PDF Ebook - Making Your Book into a PDF Ebook

Here is the question:

Dear Laura,

I have a published book at PublishAmerica thatis for sale at Amazon.com. entitled The Missing Steps. I have a copy on CD that is in PDF format. How do I repackage this format thereby removing everything except the text? Will I also need a new UPC code?

As I said in the article, you'll have to check with PublishAmerica to ensure you own the digital rights. You will need a new ISBN number (see my article on converting to the new ISBN-13 standard). Any time you republish your content in a different form, you must use a new ISBN. 

You will also need a program that allows you to modify the pdf file with the new ISBN and with any other information you decide to change. Either you can modify it in the source file (the original  document file, probably Quark or Illustrator) or use a program that will allow you to modify the file itself, such as Adobe Acrobat PDF ebook

Alternatively, you can hire someone to do this for you.
